Sam Henry (Drums)

I started playing the drums when I was 7 and met Buddy Rich (my main inspiration) when I was 10.  I love jazz and played in the stage band in high school and won a few awards at the Reno Jazz Festival...  let's just say sometime in the 70's.  At 15 I was playing professionally with lots of country and western bands, R & B bands, and you name it.  I met Greg Sage when I was just barely out of high school and we formed The Wipers with Dave Koupal in the late 70's.  We recorded a couple of EP's and the album "Is This Real?" but I quit in 1980 or so.  I played with Fred and Toody Cole for awhile in a pre-Dead Moon band called The Rats and recorded one album called "Intermittent Signals" before joining Chris Newman and Napalm Beach in 1981.  Napalm toured all over Europe and recorded too many records to count on my fingers.

I just was bummin out at Dante's one night and Mike approached me and asked if I would be interested in playing drums for a new band he was starting.  I said yes of course (what any smart drummer says when a great songwriter asks them to play).  So the next week we were putting together a band and the week after that we were recording a new album, I think the week after that we were booked on a 3 week tour for the month of March.  What can I say except REAP THE WHIRLWIND.  And here it goes...
In his 30+ year professional career, Sam Henry has performed and recorded with The Wipers, The Rats, Napalm Beach, Poison Idea, Snow Bud and the Flower People, Gothic Outhouse, Morgan Grace, Amoree Lovell, Paper Cameras, The Stolen Sweets, Mt Hood Community College Jazz Band, Heidi Hellbender, and Thee Loyal Bastards.
